Metal Roofing Naples
Metal roofing can provide strength and durability to your home in Naples and surrounding area for many years to come. Attributes of metal roofing include a higher wind rating than other roof coverings, and lower maintenance. Metal roofing has a modern look and can differentiate a home while adding value.
Metal roofing can be mill finish (which is the natural silver color) or many other colors. In this area we recommend the mill finish material. This is because the color will stay more consistent over the years. We have found that the painted metal will change more over time. This is the opinion of Sunshine Roofing, and may differ from others in the industry.
5V Metal Roofing
5V metal roofing is a traditional metal roof covering that brings the Florida look to your home. As you can see in the photo to the left, the screws are exposed in this system. 5V metal roofing has been around for many years and is often referred to as “barn tin”. The old barn tin was very thin and usually a galvanized material.
Standing Seam Metal Roofing
Standing Seam metal roofing is a very durable choice and has very high wind ratings. Typically once the upgrade to standing seam has been chosen, 24 guage galvalume metal is the recommended choice. The reason is oil canning. 24 guage will limit the undesirable look of oil canning during the heat of the day.
The industry has come far and now material is primarily a galvalume sheet metal instead of the old galvanized sheet metal.
Galvanized metal is the old standard. This material turns very dark and will rust much easier than other metals. Once the shine wears off, the roof will get darker and darker, until it finally loses its color.
Galvalume metal is the new standard. This metal will keep its silver color much longer. It will fade from the new very shiny roof to a less shiny, but will keep its silver color. Even the painted metal is painted over the galvalume product.
